This year, the Junior Kindergarten and the fifth and sixth grade have the opportunity to study French. We have started with the basics such as the colors, numbers, dates, days of the week, months of the year, weather expressions, rooms in a house and the names of different buildings. We will also learn to greet each other, shop for food and clothes and talk about ourselves and our families. We will also study France and francophone countries. We will start with French provinces and French cities, We will then study francophone countries such as Belgium and Switzerland. We will do a project on the province of Quebec and the Cajuns of Louisiana. We will also study the French speaking Caribbean Islands such as Haiti, Saint Martin and Martinique.

We will be reviewing material that they have studied in the past such as numbers, colors, days of the week, months of the year, family members and weather expressions. We will build on this knowledge and study new Spanish vocabulary. We will also be studying countries in Central America, Mexico and Spain to give your children an appreciation of the Hispanic language and culture.
